Description

These Air Fryer Mushrooms and Onions require just 7 ingredients and are ready in less than 20 minutes, including prep time and cooking time. They make a delicious side dish for steak, pork and chicken, or as a topping for burgers!


Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound (227g) cremini mushrooms, halved (or quartered, if large)
  • 1 large yellow onion, cut lengthwise into 1/4 inch slices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder


Instructions

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a large bowl and toss together until the mushrooms and onions are well coated.
  2. Transfer to the air fryer basket and air fry on 400F for 11-13 minutes, or until the mushrooms are browned and tender and the onions start to caramelize around the edges. (Stir the mushrooms and onions at the halfway point to ensure they cook evenly).

Notes

  1. As the mushrooms shrink, I usually cut them in half instead of into thin slices. If your mushrooms are large, you may want to quarter them.
  2. The onions are cut into 1/4 inch slices so they cook at the same rate as the mushrooms. Thicker slices will be too firm when the mushrooms are ready.
  3. The onions won’t soften as much as sautéed onions and will still have a little bite.
  4. I used a 5.8 quart air fryer to make this recipe. If you’re using a smaller capacity air fryer, the basket will be full so you’ll need to add about 5 minutes to the air frying time and shake the basket more than once to rotate the mushrooms and onions around.
